{Special Holiday Collaboration} Miadore for the Cayetano Legacy Collection

We have a special collaboration line coming to you for the Holidays.  The Cayetano Legacy Collection teamed up with one of our favorite designers from the Philippines, Yekky Balingit of Miadore.  His designs are beautiful, fashion forward, works of art.  He was just recently awarded "Preview" magazine's "2012 Emerging Fashion Talent Award." Its truly an honor to work together with him to create this special line for you.

Our Miadore + CLC collaboration launches on Thursday, November 15.   Its a 6 piece couture capsule that exudes glamour, color, and luxury.  Each piece is one of a kind and NOT replicated so once its gone, its gone.  So be sure to check out Cayetano Legacy Collection on November 15th.

Here's a little bit more about Yekky and how Miadore came about.

MIADORE was born in the era of DIYs. The first few pieces were made out of boredom and an after-office hobby. Fortunately, last December of 2009, I was able to meet the great Rajo Laurel, and from there—as they say—the rest is history.

Q- how did you start designing jewelry?

A - It was a night of bored and same old routine, that I decided to put up a small business. The first few pieces consists of left over fabrics from my Mother. Everything was random. It has this peculiar and uneven shape that I found interesting - nothing that can be found in the market.
Every time I wore my creations to work
and always received a lot of compliments . I even thought of selling them in selected bazaars.

Q - how did you come up with the name Miadore?

A - MIADORE came from my parent's nicknames MIA and ADOR. While the 'E' stands for my real name Erik. It is my homage to them.

Q - where does you inspiration come from?

A - Every day, everything and everywhere. I always keep my senses open.
The whole world is full of special textures and meaning...it just depends on how it is interpreted.

Q - if you had to describe your design aesthetic in 3 words what would you say?

A - Paradox. Bi-polar. Odd.

Q - where can we find your designs

A - Right now, I'm a consignor at House of Laurel (6013 Villena cor. Manalac Steet Poblacion, Makati City Email : houseoflaurel@gmail.com )
and Unisex Rewind by JP Singson (126-B West Ave Quezon City             +639228391866      )

Q - any big plans for your line in the near future?

A - Hopefully, a studio then a boutique then Anthropologie. *Finger's crossed*
Q - how would you describe your personal style?

A - Odd. :) Layered casual sometimes draping, muted one day then neon next and oh nothing too formal it makes me itchy. It depends on my mood to cut it short. :) I can go with anything as long I have good pair of shoes.

Q - if you were to share one piece of advice from your personal experiences, what would you say?

A - Be pessimistic because with all that negative vibe along the way comes something fantastic and marvelous in the end.

Green with Envy

By Karen:

My absolute favorite design thus far is the Irene jade necklace which is part of our Holiday collection.

http://www.cayetanolegacy.com/irene_jade.php

I love the rich hue of emerald green - the jewel tone looks so luxe and adds the perfect pop of color to any outfit.  In fact, as i write this in my sweats at 11pm at night, i'm wearing my emerald green jewel button earrings surrounded by cubic zirconia baguettes - think Jackie O ish.

As i wait for my request to join pinterest to be accepted, i decided to create a polyvore board with my favorite green things.  Of course we had to include my faves - fur, snakeskin, and beautiful jewelry.

Street Style

Hanneli Mustaparta
One of the world's most famous fashion blogger -
known for her impeccable street style

Street Style really is an art.  Looking effortless and casual while looking chic - and NOT frumpy - is something most people have to perfect.  We found this great article from www.thechicfashionista.com  with great info on street style and street fashion:

So What Exactly is Street Fashion?

It's style created by youth culture - mostly by young people on the streets of large urban areas. They don't necessarily follow what's "in" but they often put together outfits that reflect their personality and mood. And since since they create an outfit based completely on their persona, it looks really good because they feel comfortable in it! It is usually a bit eclectic - very mixed but up-to-date.

How Do You Achieve Street Style?

You'll have to experiment and express yourself with pieces that reflect your personality.
Mix your overall style with quirky and unconventional pieces that reflect your "other personality".  It's a lot about putting together an outfit that has a "hook".
Street fashion is all about looking casual, showing personality and having fun!

We were loving all the polyvore.com submits of people's own street style
using our necklaces that we thought - why not showcase our loyal customers
and followers in our Cayetano Legacy Collection pieces.  Why not show
you our designs in action?  So  - we're so excited to announce that we're
creating a "street style" page on our website where you can see how people around the world are incorporating our CLC designs int their everyday style.

So, without much further adeui, we'd like to introduce you to:

Summer has arrived!!!

We are so excited to finally announce the launch of our website:

You can view our summer collection and purchase one of you very own statement pieces.  We'd love to hear your feedback so let us know what you think.

In the meantime, here are a few of our favorite styles from this season.

Karen's favorite:  The Maximina Turquoise necklace

Why: "I am in love with this color for this season.  You can't help but think of the beach or even the pool when you see this piece.  The turquoise stones are casual, yet the gold accents really dress up the necklace.

How she wears it: "I've literally worn this piece hundreds of times already.  I've worn it to the beach over a white flowy tunic, I've worn it casually with white shorts and a fuschia colored shell, I've also worn it at night with an emerald green sheath dress.  That's probably why i love it the most.  There's so many options."

Gail's favorite: The Victoria in green

Why:  "I love casual, comfortable clothes so this necklace really dresses up my outfits. Plus I love how this one piece is made up of so many different components and beads.

How she wears it:  "A lot of my looks are LA casual cool so i wear a lot of flowy tank tops and dohlman sleeved tops - i definitely pair those with this necklace.  If  i'm going out for something dressy, i just use a pencil skirt and add my heels and a clutch.  If i'm just doing errands or laying low, i would wear it with jean shorts, flip flops and my mango bag."

Christine's favorite: The Maximina Amethyst necklace

Why: "I love the color - it basically matches anything...you can dress it up and down."

How she wear's it: "I wear this with a simple, flowy summer dress - no prints, just a solid color to really enhance the color of the necklace."
